After a two week break, I’m back in Bordeaux and with a new list of things to do this weekend in Bordeaux. There are still not many events taking place in our region but as in previous weeks, I came up with plenty of suggestions of places you can visit and enjoy the cultural side of Bordeaux and its surroundings. Summer bars
You have only a few more weeks to enjoy the fun summer bars of Bordeaux. Every summer many outdoor bars are opening up in Bordeaux, with some offering a fun program of concerts or DJ sets. This weekend it is time to start saying goodbye to the summer in Bordeaux. See some of the bars you can try in my article about summer bars in Bordeaux.

Go to a night market
If you haven’t been to a night market this summer, there are still several markets taking place at the end of August and the beginning of September. This weekend you can try the market of Ludon Medoc or Biscarrosse Plage. See more info in my article about the night markets in the southwest of France.
Festival Yapadage au Château Villandraut
This weekend (August 28-29) the beautiful Château Villandraut is hosting the Yapadage festival. The program includes theatre spectacles, workshops, a craftsmen market, and more. See the full program here.
Music day at the Ecosite du Bourgailh
This Saturday (August 29) the eco-park of Bourgailh is hosting a music day with a big program of concerts, DJ sets, open-air cinema, a brocante and more. The event is free but some of the concerts and the cinema require prior reservation, see more details here.
Last chance to enjoy free museums in Bordeaux
Five main museums in Bordeaux are free until the end of August! This is the list of museums: le Muséum d’histoire naturelle, le CAPC, le Musée d’Aquitaine, le Musée des Arts Décoratifs and le Musée des Beaux-Arts. If you’re coming with kids, the natural history museum of Bordeaux is great!

Visit the pre-historic caves of Pair non Pair
While the most interesting pre-historic painted caves are located in Dordogne, Gironde too prides itself with one of the world’s most remarkable caves. Pair-non-Pair are pre-historic painted caves from the Upper Paleolithic period, located within a few minutes drive from Bourg (35km from Bordeaux). Its animal engravings, dating back over 30,000 years, depict horses, ibexes, deer, mammoths, cattle and an exceptional representation of Megaloceros.
A big part of the visit is in the dark and it’s open to kids over 7 yo. The visit must be booked in advance, see all the details here.
A concert in Saint Emilion
This Saturday (August 29) at 20:30 le Couvent des Jacobins in Saint Emilion is hosting the pianist Sélim Mazari for the closing night of its classical music festival. For more info and tickets click here.
Les Vivres de l’Art
This summer Les Vivres de l’Art in Bacalan invites you to the 7ème Ciel exhibition that’s hosting five different artists. For those who have never visited this fascinating place, Les vivres de l’art is an artistic association, holding cultural events, workshops, vintage sales, music festivals, exhibitions, and more. The expo is presented there until September 20, you can see all the details here.

Costumes exhibition in the Opera of Bordeaux
A beautiful exhibition called “Plus que Parfait” is currently presented at the Opera of Bordeaux. The exhibition presents the incredible world of theater costumes and includes many items form shows that were previously played at the Opera. The exhibition will be presented until September 6 and is free for kids under 12yo. For more info and reservations click here.
Try the new Labyrinth in Gironde
Popcorn Labyrinth is a new huge Labyrinth in Cestas that has just opened its doors about a month ago. During the summer the Labyrinthe is open every day and even has night sessions on Fridays and Saturdays. You can see the hours and prices in this link.
Enjoy the hipster vibe of the IBoat
La Plage de L’IBOAT is a fun outdoor space with a bar, comfy sofas, and different outdoor events. The Iboat, mostly known as a concert venue, is a three-level ferry spanning 687m2, anchored to one of the docks of Bassins a flot.
