This is a long weekend for many of us with four full days to enjoy the great events taking place in the region! This time, some of the more interesting stuff takes place outside the city, so the long weekend could be a good excuse to wander beyond the walls of Bordeaux. This week we have the first Bordeaux food truck festival of 2019, the big agricultural fair, a Jazz festival in the north of Medoc, a new cool exhibition and more. Here’s the list of things to do this long weekend in and around Bordeaux (May 30 – June 2).

Bordeaux Food-truck Festival
This is the biggest gathering of food trucks in the region of Nouvelle Aquitaine. Tens of different food trucks will spread around the Gironde department in five events taking place between June and September. This festival aims to mix street food with the finesse of the wine world. As part of this gastronomic event, visitors can taste the wines of the hosting châteaux and the specialties of food coming from all corners of the world: French, Italian, Brazilian and many more. The program of the festival also includes free concerts, exhibitions, escape games, activities for kids and more. Salon de l’agriculture of Nouvelle-Aquitaine
Salon de l’agriculture of Nouvelle Aquitaine is an annual ten-day event where you get to discover the agricultural richness of our area through different activities. A farm area with many animals and plants will be put in place, offering interesting activities for both kids and adults. Another attraction is the Gastronomy and Wine space, highlighting the exceptional heritage of the region. The Salon de l’agriculture is part of a larger event taking place at the same time (Foire Internationale de Bordeaux) and will take place on June 1-10 in Parc des Expositions. Millesime festival
This is a great event for all electronic music lovers who want to enjoy the unique atmosphere of an electronic music festival and still stay in the region of Bordeaux. Festival Millesime takes place in a beautiful town, La Réole, located about 40 minutes drive from Bordeaux. The festival hosts more than 30 electronic artists on three stages located on the banks of the Garonne river. The festival will take place this weekend (May 31- June 1) – click here for more details.

Biotope Festival in Saint Emilion
This weekend (May 29- June 1) the Biotop festival will take place all over the Saint Emilion area. The main goal of this festival is to raise awareness of the preservation and protection of the environment and the heritage of wine. This year the theme of the festival is “ The Power of plants”. The program includes plenty of conferences, workshops, concerts, shows for kids, discovery walks and more. For the full program click here. Village du Mexique et de l’Amérique latine
This week we have the Latin America and the Caribians week in Bordeaux. One of the main events, the Mexican village, takes place this weekend (May 31 – June 1) at Placette de Munich. You are invited to take part in two happy days of concerts, dance classes, pinatas workshops for kids, tastings of Mexican food and more. For more details click here.

Festival Vagabonde Art&Ocean 2019
Vagabonde is a festival that celebrates the link between art and the ocean. Check out the full program, including the concerts and exhibition, here. The festival will take place this weekend (May 30 to June 2) at Cour Malby.

La Fermesse
Les P’tits Gratteurs is a local association that organizes activities in the St. Michel and St. Croix neighborhoods. This Sunday (June 2) they invite you to the Fermesse event that will take place at Square Dom Bedos. This fun afternoon will include a mobile farm with animals, creative workshops for kids, a games space for families, a plants market and more. The event will end with a musical show that will start at 17:00. For more details click here.

Soulac 1900
If you want to travel a bit this weekend, this little festival is just for you. The Soulac 1900 jazz festival will take place this weekend (May 31 – June 2) in the charming town of Soulac sur Mer located in the north part of the Medoc area. The idea of the festival is to get you into the vibe, art and culture of the 1900s. All the events and concerts will take place on the streets of the town and the access is free. Relache Festival
Relache Festival, created by the Allez les filles association, is a series of free concerts taking place at different venues and dates during the summer. The next event will take place this Thursday (May 30) at Square Dom Bedos. For the lineup and more details click here.

Trajectoires
Trajectoires is a unique cultural event where talented students of music, theater and choreography will perform their works of art to pass their diploma. Around 50 different performances of theater, comedy, dance and music will be put on stage in different locations in Bordeaux. This weekend (May 31 – June 1) the event Musica da Camera will take place at the L’Atelier du Conservatoire with a program that includes the students of the Conservatoire of Bordeaux. Nuits Atypiques Festival
This multidisciplinary festival in south Gironde has been taking place every summer since 1992. From June 1 to July 21, 22 events will take places in 12 towns in the Gironde department. The program includes a variety of activities such as concerts, theater, films, debates, tours to discover the towns and more. Check out the full program here and info about the locations here.

Free museums Sunday
Like in most cities in France, the first Sunday of the month is a free museums day. You have a free entrance to all the public museums and to most exhibitions. Check out the full list of museums in Bordeaux that you can visit for free this Sunday.
Instincts – an exhibition of Mika
Another exciting exhibition is taking place at the Institut Bernard Magrez, a place dedicated to street art. This week a vernissage of the Instincts exhibition by Mika, one of Bordeaux’s most prominent street artists, took place at the museum. The exhibition will be presented until September 1st. Last chance to see the Interactive special effects exhibition
Do you ever wonder how the special effects you see in movies are made? If you do then you should check out the “Effets speciaux” exhibition taking place these days in Cap Sciences. It’s an interactive exhibition that allows you to see the behind the scenes of the cinema world and experiment with different special effects like the green screen. Entry prices range from 6.5€ to 9€ and free for kids under 5 years old. For more info click here.
