I must admit that this weekend is not as exciting as the events waiting for us starting April (you can check some of them in my latest post). But it doesn’t mean it’s going to be boring! We have a monsters carnival for kids, a circus, music and great exhibitions. Here’s the list of things to do this weekend in Bordeaux (March 29-31).

Carnaval des monstres

This Saturday (March 30) a monsters carnival will take place in Parc Peixotto in Talence. The program of the event includes makeup sessions for kids, games, costume contest and more. For more details click here.

The European short film festival

The 22nd edition of the European Short Film festival (festival européen du court métrage de Bordeaux) will take place on March 27-29 at the UGC Ciné Cité Bordeaux.  The festival includes a program of about thirty movies from all over the world and a jury of famous personalities from the French cinema industry, from actors to directors and screenwriters. Cirque « Dans ton cœur » par la Cie Akoréacro

La Cie Akoreacro is a very popular and entertaining circus. This weekend (March 29-31) they will perform their latest creation “Dans ton cœur ” at Esplanade des Terres Neuves in Begles. For more info click here.

Meet Professionals from the Nouvelle Aquitaine cinema industry

Cap Science invites you to three days (March 28-30) of meetings with professionals from the cinema industry of Nouvelle Aquitaine. Do you wonder how the decor and costumes are chosen in a movie? How special effects are made? How are the images and sound put together? Now you have the opportunity to have the answers right from the industry professionals. The entry is free. The inauguration of the Museum of Natural History of Bordeaux

After years of renovations, the museum of natural history of Bordeaux will open its doors on March 31. Created in 1971, the museum has one of the biggest collections in France with more than a million specimens. To celebrate it’s reopening, the museum invites you to a free and festive inauguration day this Sunday (March 31). For more details click here.

Festival La Fourchette

La Fourchette is a site that allows you to enjoy discounts in restaurants all over France. This year they organized their first food festival. You have three weeks (until April 21) to enjoy up to 50% discounts in many restaurants in France, some of them are located in Bordeaux. L’Apéro musical Volotea

The Volotea airline company invites you to a musical Apero that will take place this Friday (March 29) at Le Café Francais. It will be a fun evening of music and culinary discoveries and you can even win flight tickets! For more details click here.

Swing on the streets

Swing In Kiosque is a series of improvised dance events that are taking place in Jardin Public once a month. This weekend the event will take place on March 31. Take a look at the full program of events on their facebook page.

The Big Plants Sale

A big plants sale will take place this weekend (March 29-31) at the Promenade Sainte-Catherine. The prices are guaranteed to be quite low (from 2€ to 10€) so it’s a good opportunity to fill your house with winter plants. For more details follow the facebook page of the event.

Noche Del Pintxo

Noche del Pintxo is a fun event taking place in Halles de Bacalan every last Friday of the month. As the name indicates, this event is all about Pintxos, with ingredients coming solely from the market. This Friday (March 29) between 18:30 and 22:30 you’ll taste Pintxos and vote on the Pintxo of the month. One of the most fun things about these evenings are the prices: Pintxo = 2€, glass of wine = 2€.  For more info check out the facebook page of the event.

Roller Night

Every last Friday of the month the AIR Roller association is organizing a fun roller night. The group meets next to Hotel de Ville at 20:30 for about an hour ride. Everyone is invited. For more details click here.

Concert Afro Social Club

As part of the African cultural month in Bordeaux, the Bordelais group Afro social club will take the stage of le Rocher de Palmer this Friday (March 29). For more info and tickets click here.

When art and design take on glass

A new temporary exhibition was inaugurated at the Cité du Vin several weeks ago. The exhibition beautifully combines the wine and design worlds. It includes the works of several designers who all modified and reinvented wine glasses. For more details click here.

Interactive special effects exhibition

Do you ever wonder how the special effects you see in movies are made? If you do then you should check out the “Effets speciaux” exhibition taking place these days in Cap Sciences. It’s an interactive exhibition that allows you to see the behind the scenes of the cinema world and experiment with different special effects like the green screen. Entry prices range from 6.5€ to 9€ and free for kids under 5 years old. For more info click here.
