This weekend in Bordeaux (February 22-24)

This weekend many people are out of town due to the school break and there are thus fewer events than usual. For those staying in the city, there are some nice events and exhibitions on my list. Since it’s going to be hot this weekend you can also use it to discover Bordeaux and its parks. 

Here’s the list of things to do this weekend in Bordeaux (February 22-24)!

Foire aux Plaisirs

This is the spring edition of the traditional Bordelaise Fair that is taking place at Place des Quinconces  from February 22 to March 24. It’s a perfect activity for kids and for those who are young in spirit as La Foire aux Plaisirs de Bordeaux has it all: a big wheel, roller coasters, ghost trains, bumper cars, donuts, crèpes, barbes à papa and more. The fair is open daily from 14:00, you are not required to pay any entry fee, only for some of the attractions. See more info about the fair here.

A cartoon festival for the little ones

Cinéma “Le Festival” in Bégles is hosting a film festival for the little ones. During the festival, many cartoons and movies for kids (3 to 6 years old) will be screened, allowing parents to take their kids to the movies, some of them for the first time. For the full program click here.

Festival Les Grenadines Givrées

La Boîte à Jouer association invites you to the Grenadines Givrées festival during the first week of school break (February 16-23). You can enjoy different cultural experiences, from theater to marionettes and storytelling. This is a great event for both kids and adults. For the full program click here.

Fête des Boeufs Gras de Captieux

If you can’t make it to the big Fête des Boeufs in Bazas next Thursday, come to celebrate the Bazas cattle this Sunday (February 24) in Captieux. The festive event includes a parade, music and tastings of the delicious Bazasian meat. For more info click here.

Time for a picnic

Roller Night

Every last Friday of the month the AIR Roller association is organizing a fun roller night. The group meets next to Hotel de Ville at 20:30 for about an hour ride. Everyone is invited. For more details click here.

Atelier Costumes Carnaval

We are just one week before Carnaval des 2 rives, that will take place on March 3. If you want to make your own costume for the carnival you are invited to the Carnival costumes workshop that will take place this Saturday (February 23). For more info click here.

Concerts

Les Créants – dance show

Les Créants is an artistic improvisation collective. This Saturday (February 23) the collective will perform two of their works of art at the Vivres de l’Art. For more details click here.

Louise Weber en Concert au Central do Brasil

The singer Louise Weber and her ukulele will take the stage of Central do Brasil this Saturday (February 23). For more info click here.

Exhibitions in Bordeaux

Last chance to visit the Kaléidoscope exhibition

This time it’s really the last chance to see the beautiful street art exhibition in Institut Bernard Magrez. The Kaléidoscope exhibition is all about feminine art, hosting nine female street artists to present their works in a genre that is usually considered more masculine. The exhibition will be presented until February 24. For more info click here and here.

Expo « Vivre l’Art-Déco » Bordeaux-Casablanca

Vivre l’Art-Déco is an exhibition presenting the footprint of Art Déco in the lives of people in Bordeaux and Casablanca in architecture, urban planning and their daily life. The items include photos, maquettes, objects and documents. The exhibition is presented at Salle capitulaire and cour Mably until February 23.

Album Artworks Exhibition in Pessac

Album Artworks is an exhibition of five artists that have worked with Bordelaise bands and created both cd covers and accessories for music concerts. The exhibition will be presented at Sorti 13 in Pessac until Mars 3. For more info about the artists click here.

Exposition “Carnaval des 2 rives”

In two weeks Bordeaux will host the beautiful Carnaval Des 2 Rives. This year as part of the preparations to the festival, the organizers of the festival invite you to an exhibition with costumes and masks created for the carnival. The exhibition will be presented at le 308 (Bastide) from February 12 to March 29. For more details click here.

Exposition d’art au Château Pichon Bellevue

A big art exhibition is presented these days at the Château Pichon Bellevue in Vayres. The exhibition hosts four artists: Carole Collaudin (designer), Chantal Druet (photographer), Caroline Escaffit (painter) and Katrine Gaultier (sculptor). For more details click here.
