Going to night markets (marchés nocturnes) in the southwest of France is one of the best ways to discover small villages in the region and to get a nice dose of French rural vibes.  During market days, the beautiful villages of the Southwest of France suddenly become very lively and festive. Complete with regional food stalls, music, and happy tipsy locals 🙂

There are many markets taking place on a daily basis in the region but finding information about them is not an easy task. That’s why I did some research for you and came up with a relatively complete list of night markets taking place in Gironde, Dordogne, Lot et Garonne, and Les Landes. Not all the info regarding night markets exists online so consult your local tourist office if you want to attend one closer to where you’re staying.

If you want more ideas for things to do this summer in the Bordeaux region check out my article about what to do this summer in Bordeaux. If you love visiting French markets check out my article about the best markets in Bordeaux. Also, if you want recommendations on what night market to go to you can join my Facebook group “Travel in the Southwest of France“, there are many locals there that can give you their opinion on the matter 🙂

NOTE – At the beginning of the summer the list was much longer but many markets were canceled due to COVID 19, which means that the markets I mention here could also be canceled at some point. I added links to every event I mention here so please be sure to check if there are any updates regarding the night market you want to attend.
