Now that Easter is over we can finally go back to events that don’t involve chocolate and treasure hunts. This weekend there are so many cool events all around Bordeaux, even Sunday is packed with activities you don’t want to miss. Open doors in Lalande de Pomerol, a celebration of asparagus in Etauliers, celebrating Bordeaux’s art and music on the banks of the Garonne and more in the list of things to do this weekend in and around Bordeaux (April 26-28).

Open doors at Lalande de Pomerol

An open doors weekend will take place on April 27-28 at the châteaux of the Lalande de Pomerol appellation. During the weekend, 25 châteaux will offer plenty of activities such as guided tours, tastings, markets, an old cars exhibition, and many other activities. Festival Animasia

Animasia is a festival of Asian pop culture that brings together many elements like Manga, karaoke, Cosplay performances, martial arts and more. The chosen theme for the 7th edition of the festival is “China”. The event will take place this Saturday (April 27) at L’Entrepôt du Haillan. The entry is free, for more details click here.

Fête de l’Asperge du Blayais

la Fête de l’Asperge du Blayais in Etauliers, taking place on April 27-28, is all about celebrating the greatness of asparagus. More than 8000 visitors are expected to stroll among the 50 exhibitors of local delights and enjoy the activities offered to both adults and kids (make-up sessions, mini farm, pony rides and more). Le Bord’Osmose Festival

Le Bord’Osmose Festival celebrates Bordeaux’s art and culture. The festival will take place this Saturday (April 27) at the La Guinguette Chez Alriq, which you can visit before its big reopening on May 2. The program includes performances and concerts of local artists, exhibitions by some of the best Bordelais artists (NASTY is one of them) and plenty of great food trucks. Search for beautiful antiques at the Brocante

The big brocante of Bordeaux is hosted twice a year at place des Quinconces with 200 antique dealers, horticulturists, restaurants, and craftsmen. It’s the biggest brocante event in the area and the selection is huge, from vintage home decor to paintings, antique furniture, garden accessories and more. While some items can be pricey, you can still find plenty of affordable pieces at this antique market. The merchants are very nice and are open to negotiations. Tous au Pâquodrome – La Teste de Buch

If you’re a bit sad that Easter is over, this event is for you. A huge treasure hunt will take place this Friday (April 26) at the Hippodrome de la Teste. The event is limited to 150 kids. For more info click here.

Bal du Printemps

This Saturday (April 27) the Jardin l’Ephémère in Begles will host a big spring party. The program includes a big recycling market, games for kids, concerts and many workshops such as making a natural deodorant, how to make compost and more. See more details and the full program here.

The opening of Décathlon Bègles

To celebrate the opening of Décathlon Bègles, the mega sports store invites you to a day full of free sports activities. The program includes climbing, rollerblades, yoga and artistic workshops for kids. The event will take place on Saturday (April 27). To see the full program click here.

PIK NIK ZIK – free concerts

Pik Nik Zik is a series of free concerts organized by the Les P’tits Gratteurs association, that will take place every last Sunday of the Month from April to August. The first event will take place this Sunday (April 28) at the Quai des sports Saint-Michel and will include concerts by Naragansett, Vent d’est and the Bastards Of The Opera. Kids Room in Halles de Bacalan

This Sunday (April 28) Halles de Bacalan will launch its kids’ room. Every Sunday (11:00 to 16:00) from now to the end of July, the market will run activities and workshops for kids with two operators, meanwhile, you can enjoy your drink and snack with friends without running after your kids. The activities are for kids over 3 years old and the price is 5 euros. For more details click here.

Noche Del Pintxo

Noche del Pintxo is a fun event taking place in Halles de Bacalan every last Friday of the month. As the name indicates, this event is all about Pintxos, with ingredients coming solely from the market. This Friday (April 26) between 18:30 and 22:30 you’ll taste Pintxos and vote on the Pintxo of the month. One of the most fun things about these evenings are the prices: Pintxo = 2€, glass of wine = 2€.  For more info check out the facebook page of the event.

Mama’s Brunch

Another fun event this Sunday is Mama’s Brunch. Mama Shelter invites you to its big buffet brunch which is a bit pricey (39 euros per person) but it includes almost four hours of activities and artistic workshops for kids, so it’s almost like brunch with a babysitter :). Swing on the streets

Swing In Kiosque is a series of improvised dance events that are taking place in Jardin Public once a month. This weekend the event will take place on April 28. Take a look at the full program of events on their facebook page.

Roller Night

Every last Friday of the month the AIR Roller association is organizing a fun roller night. The group meets next to Hotel de Ville at 20:30 for about an hour ride. Everyone is invited. For more details click here.

Itinéraires des Photographes Voyageurs – photography festival

The 29th edition of the “traveling photographers routes” festival is taking place on April 2-28. During one month, 18 photography exhibitions will be presented at the main cultural institutions in the city, among them, the Rocher de Palmer in Cenon, the Bibliothèque Grand Parc, Espace Saint-Rémi and others. Exposition d’art au Château Pichon Bellevue

A big art exhibition is presented these days at the Château Pichon Bellevue in Vayres. The exhibition hosts four artists: Carole Collaudin (designer), Chantal Druet (photographer), Caroline Escaffit (painter) and Katrine Gaultier (sculptor). For more details click here.

Last chance to see the Sous les mers, au-delà de l’image exhibtion

“Sous les mers, au-delà de l’image” is a photography exhibition presented at the new Musee de la Mer et de la Marine until April 30. The expo consists of more than 100 photographs by Paul Nicklen and David Doubilet, two National Géographic photographers. Check out more info on the site of the museum.

Although there aren’t any huge events in the center of Bordeaux, like the wine festival next week, there is still a big variety of smaller fun events to entertain you and your families this weekend. Jazz lovers are going to enjoy this weekend with two Jazz festivals very close to Bordeaux. Other surprises in the music scene include the Open air festival in Cenon and the So Good festival in Canéjan. Of course it’s not all about music, there are food events, new art expos and even a Mojito festival.

Festivals and other events

Bordeaux Open Air #1

The first part of the third edition of the Bordeaux Open Air festival will take place on June 10 in Parc Palmer in Cenon. Bordeaux Open Air is a series of summer free electronic music events, all set in different locations and with a great city vibe to them. The second and third parts of the festival will take place on July 22 and August 12 in Jardin Public and Parc Palmer, respectively.

Les Epicuriales

This is the last weekend of the event that has become an early summer Bordelaise tradition. For its 24th edition les Epicuriales festival transforms Allées de Tourny (next to the Opera) to a  gastronomic heaven with about twenty restaurants set up especially for the event. During the 16 days of the festival, the restaurants are open to the public for lunch and dinner.

Festival Le Haillan Chanté

The 9th edition of the singing festival, Le Haillan Chanté, is taking place on June 5-9 in Le Haillan. French songs lovers will adore this event as it is full with performances of both current and more nostalgic songs. There is a long list of performers participating in the event, some of the names are: Michel Jonasz, Loïc Lantoine, Melissmell, Barbara Carlotti, Presque Oui, Wally, Hildebrandt, Jacques et Jacques, Hinamé, Marc Dessolas, Tiou, Eskelina, Buridane.  The two main venues where the events will take place are L’Entrepôt and the Théâtre de verdure.

Fete de mojito

La Fête du Mojito will take place this weekend (June 7-9) all over France with music, special activities and happy hour prices on Mojitos (up to 50% off). Bordeaux is not an acceptation and many bars in the city are going to participate is the festival with special evenings dedicated to the Cuban famous cocktail, among them La Tencha, The grizzly pub, the Bodega and Casa Latina. So Good Fest

Le So Good Fest is an electronic music festival of the Gironde department that takes place every year at Plaine du Courneau in Canéjan. The 8th edition of the festival will take place on June 8-9 and will include a two day lineup of French and international artists in the Electro, Dub and Techno music.

Jazz and Blues Festival in Leognan

The 23rd edition of the Jazz and Blues Festival of Leognan will take place as part of Leognan’s 300 years anniversary celebrations. Six concert nights will be given between June 7 and June 16 in four different towns in the area: Beautiran, Saucats, Martillac et Léognan. Take a look at the full program here.

la Fête de l’Huître

The 18th edition of la Fête de l’Huître will take place on June 8-9 in the center of Saint Augustin neighborhood in Bordeaux. During the day, you will see plenty of people who come to enjoy oysters and other goodies that the festival has to offer, while the ones who will stay for the evening will enjoy free concerts (LITTLE MONKEY, HS STREET BAND). The Hermione ship arrives to Bordeaux

Hermione, the impressive ship, once used by La fayette, will arrive to Bordeaux on June 8. The ship will pass under the Chaban-Delmas bridge at 14: 45 and after turning at the Miroir d’Eau, will dock next to Ponton Quai des Marques until it’s departure on June 14 (20:20). During its stay in Bordeaux you have the chance to visit the ship and meet the crew. The visit lasts up to 30 minutes and the price is 5 €  for adults and 2 € for 6-15 years old. Trajectoires

Trajectoires is a unique cultural event where talented students of music, theater and choreography will perform their works of art to pass their diploma. Around 50 different performances of theater, comedy, dance and music will be put on stage in different locations in Bordeaux. Six concerts will be given in Saint Genès this weekend (June 8-10) by the students of the Ancients instruments department of the Conservatoire de Bordeaux. Festival Jazz 360

This is the 9th edition of the Jazz 360 festival whose goal is to support the creation of Jazz music. During the five days of the festival more than 50 professional and young artists will take the stage for nine free and four payed concerts. it will take place on June 7-10 in five different locations: Langoiran, Cénac, Camblanes-et-Meynac, Quinsac and Latresne.  For more details visit the site of the festival.

Fête Vigneronne

This Saturday (June 9)  Sainte-Croix-du-Mont invites you to the Fête Vigneronne. This is a gastronomic and a wine event in Château de Tastes, where visitors will  taste the wine of the château  and take part in different activities such as an art exposition, orchestra concert and a lunch prepared from the products of the region. Arty Garden Party

The town hall of the Nansouty Saint-Genès neighborhood is organizing a summer welcoming party that will include musical, cultural and sports events. The three days event will take place on June 8-19 at the Dames de la foi garden in Saint Genès. For more info click here

WITH KIDS

Big Bang- Air and Space Festival

The Big Bang festival in Saint-Médard-en-Jalles will take place on June 5-10. The third edition of the air and space festival is dedicated to art and science and is promised to be both educative and entertaining. The program includes art and science exhibitions, conferences, planetarium, flight simulator, films, concerts and much more. Check out the full program of the event.

Le Printemps des Doudous

Le printemps des doudous is a  music festival for kids that will take place June 9 in the Bastide neighborhood. The program will include shows, workshops and sport activities for kids such as yoga, gym kids and more. The workshops and sport activities are all free, while the price of the shows is 5 euros for kids and 8 euros for adults. For more detail click here.

Bambino Party

This weekend (June 9-10) l’Île aux enfants in Hourtin will hold a kids festival for children up to 12 years old. The theme of the festival is the wild west and the kids will be turned to little cowboys and Indians. For more details click here.

CULTURE

Odyssée de L’espace – Auditorium de Bordeaux

For this final concert of the symphonic season, the National Orchestra of Bordeaux chose to take on a more cinematic sound. The concert is called the Space Odyssey and besides the theme from Kubrick’s famous movie will include other pieces celebrating space like Start Wars. The concerts will take place June 7-8 at the Auditorium of Bordeaux.

Belle Gueules de Bordeaux – Photography 

A photography exhibition by the name of Belle Gueules de Bordeaux, will be presented in La Cité du Vin from June 8 to September 2. The photographs present 51 portraits of men and women working in the vineyards in the Bordeaux area  during the period of  12 months, as was captured by the photographer, Guillaume BONNAUD. Most of the works are presented at the entrance hall of La Cité du Vin and thus do not require a ticket to the museum.

Still some time left to see the Street Color Exhibition

This is the last chance to see the excellent art exhibition that is being presented from April 5 to June 24 at the Institut Bernard Magrez. The expo includes some well known street artists (mostly French ones), such as MAD C (GER), Seth (FRA), d’Alexöne (FRA) and more.

Last chance to see the Wine and Music Expo

The art exposition at la Cité du Vin, named “Le vin & La musique, accords et désaccords“, reveals the relationship between wine and music through a visual journey that alternates between  paintings, music and stage art. Around 150 pieces of art will be put in place from French and European collections: ceramics, paintings, music books , instruments and more. The exposition has been running from march and will be presented at the museum until June 24. For more details and tickets check here.

Là bas – expo by Yakassum 

Art Social Club is an association created with the goal to connect between artists and art lovers. Every month the Art Social Club hosts different artists from different genres of arts. Currently (May 17 – June 17) “la bas”, a collective exposition by Yakassum, a group of three painters, is being presented at the club. For more info click here.
