April is such a fun month in Bordeaux! It starts to be warm outside, everything blossoms, and a lot of places are slowly opening up for the summer season. It’s also one of the best months to discover the surrounding of Bordeaux before they become too crowded with visitors from around the world.

Before I give you the list of events taking place in April, I want to recommend a few articles for you to read before visiting the region. Open doors in Médoc

To celebrate the beginning of the spring the Maison du Tourisme et du Vin de Pauillac will hold an open doors weekend on April 1-2. During the weekend you can visit plenty of châteaux in the Medoc region and taste some of the finest wines in the world. For details about all the participating chateaux click here.

Bordeaux Electronic Week-end

Bordeaux Electronic Week-end 2023 is a fun music festival taking place on April 7-9. The lineup includes more than 10 electronic artists that will take the stage at Quai des sports, Saint Michel and Hangar FL. See the details here

Grande Brocante Antiquites À Rauzan

Every year the village of Rauzan in the Entre deux Mers region is hosting one of the best brocantes (antiques and flea market) in the SW of France. This year the big market will take place on April 7-10. See all the details here

Treasure Hunt on Pâques Weekend

The second weekend of April is the long weekend of Easter in France and the area of Bordeaux offers plenty of activities to entertain you and your kids. Egg hunting, visits to beautiful chateaux, and chocolate workshops are only some of the activities you could do this weekend.

Territoires Sauvages – Nature festival

Territoires Sauvages is a nature festival that will take place at the Halle du Port in Teich (Arcachon Bay) on April 7-10. You’re invited to spend your Easter weekend discovering the natural treasures of the region. For more info click here

Promenade en Scène!

Promenade Sainte-Catherine is the shopping center located in the middle of Bordeaux’s main shopping street – rue Sainte-Catherine. On April 14-16, Promenade Sainte-Catherine is hosting a festive weekend with a very entertaining program: dance, music, a magic show, and more. See all the details here.

The Blaye Spring Wine Festival

The Blaye Spring Wine Festival will take place on April 15-16 at the Blaye Citadel. The annual wine festival brings together more than 80 winemakers.

The program includes discovery workshops (introduction to tasting, mixing, and food and wine pairing), guided visits to the citadel by train or horse, and more. For the full program and tickets click here.

Week-end des Vins Vivants

On April 15 -16, the town of Monségur in Entre-deux-Mers is hosting a wine festival. The event is dedicated to organic and natural wines. See all the details here

BLIB – the beer festival of Bordeaux 

The 7th edition of Bordeaux’s beer festival will take place on April 15. The event will take place at Hangar 14 in Chartrons. Check out the Facebook page of the event for more info.

Search for beautiful antiques at the Brocante

The big brocante of Bordeaux is hosted twice a year at Place des Quinconces with 200 antique dealers, horticulturists, restaurants, and craftsmen. It’s the biggest brocante event in the area and the selection is huge, from vintage home decor to paintings, antique furniture, garden accessories, and more.

Open doors at Lalande de Pomerol

An open doors weekend will take place on April 22-23 at the châteaux of the Lalande de Pomerol appellation. During the weekend, the châteaux of this appellation will offer plenty of activities such as guided tours, tastings, markets, an old cars exhibition, and many other activities. Violette Sauvage X Madeingreen

Violette Sauvage is a big vide-dressing event (second-hand clothes sale) taking place every year in several cities in France (including Bordeaux). 

This year the organizers of the event have collaborated with Madeingreen, a Bordeaux fair that promotes green creators. Together they will host a huge sale of second-hand fashion items. The event will take place in Hangar 14 on April 21-23. See more details here

Salon Nautique d’Arcachon

The big Salon Nautique d’Arcachon will take place the weekend on April 21-23 at the Port de Plaisance d’Arcachon. More than 170 exhibitors will participate in the Salon, with 450 boats stationed all over the port. For more details click here

Open doors in Saint-Emilion

An open-door weekend will take place on April 29May 1st in Saint Emilion where tens of wine producers will open their chateaux to the public.

Tauzia Fête les Jardins

Tauzia is a gardening festival that takes place on April 29-30 at the Tauzia chateau in Gradignan. The popular event brings together more than 80 exhibitors specialized in the world of plants: plant producers, landscape designers, artists, collectors, horticulturists, and in general people with exceptional knowledge of plants. Fete de la Lamproie

Sainte-Terre, the world capital of the Lamproie, will celebrate this creepy jawless fish with a fun, festive weekend. The event will take place on April 28 – 30. See the program here.

Fête de l’Asperge du Blayais

la Fête de l’Asperge du Blayais in Etauliers is a big event celebrating asparagus and its farmers. More than 8000 visitors are expected to stroll along with the 50 exhibitors of local delights and enjoy the activities offered to both adults and kids (make-up sessions, mini farm, pony rides, and more). The event is taking place on April 29-30 at the center of Etauliers. See the full program.

Foire au Jambon à Bayonne

Like every year, Bayonne will celebrate its famous ham with a big fair called, Foire au Jambon. The event will take place on April 6-9. See all the details here

Châteaux En Fête

Châteaux En Fête is one of the best evets the Dordgone department has to offer. 71 castles all over Dordogne will open their doors to visitors and offer guided visits, activities, and festive evenings. Winestock Festival

The Winestock Festival is a new wine-gastronomic festival that will take place for the first time this year in the villages of Monestier and Thénac in Dordogne. The program of the event includes concerts, tastings, workshops, a wine fair, masterclasses, and more.

Année Du Dessin En Dordogne

This year the Dordogne is celebrating the Drawing year with an impressive amount of art exhibitions all over the department. Exhibitions and concerts not to miss this month in Bordeaux

Itinéraires des Photographes Voyageurs – photography festival

The 32nd edition of the “traveling photographers routes” festival will take place on April 5-30. During one month, 17 photography exhibitions will be presented at the main cultural institutions in the city, among them, the Rocher de Palmer in Cenon, the Bibliothèque in Meriadeck, Espace Saint-Rémi, and others. Dali and Gaudi – Les Bassins de Lumières

Les Bassins de Lumières is hosting a new amazing exhibition! This time the immersive exhibition is dedicated to Dali and Gaudi. Les Bassins de Lumières is a visual arts space, situated in an old submarine base, that is known for its immersive exhibitions. 

You can see a video I took in their previous exhibitions just to get the vibe.  The new exhibition will be presented from February 3 to January 7, get your tickets here.

Go to a concert at Arkea Arena

Arkea Arena is the place to go to if you want to see big concerts in Bordeaux. The program in April includes the Celtic Legends, the Swan lake ballet, Jennifer, and more. See the full program here

Street are at L’institue Bernard Magrez

L’institue Bernard Magrez is a beautiful chateau in Bordeaux that regularly host street art exhibitions and events. Currently, there are three different street art exhibitions presented at the gallery. You can visit the chateau only on weekends. Buy tickets here.

Fun Easter events in Bordeaux Metropole 

Roll’easter

A special easter event is taking place in Darwin on April 9, an egg hunt on skates! You can either bring your own skates or rent them there. See all the details here

Musée national des Douanes

The national museum of the history of French customs is hosting its annual easter activity for kids on April 9. The treasure hunt is for kids aged 5-7 yo, in which they would have to find chocolate eggs in the museum. For more details and registration click here

Kfé Des Familles

One of the traditional treasure hunts in Bordeaux, organized by Kfe des Familles, will take place on April 8. The kids will be divided into several groups according to their age and will try to find the treasures around la Place Buscaillet in the Bacalan neighborhood. Easter events around Bordeaux (Gironde and Beyond)

Château de Villandraut

The Chateau de Villandraut will host two treasure hunts on Monday (April 10). The are two events, one for the little ones (3-6 yo) starting at 10:00 and the other one for the big kids (7-12 yo) starting at 14:30. Both require prior reservations, for details click here.

Château Larrivet Haut-Brion

Want to enjoy excellent wine while your kids are looking for their chocolate treasures? Try this event in Château Larrivet Haut-Brion. The beautiful chateau in the Pessac and Leognan appellation is hosting a fun Eastern event on April 8. See all the details here

Chateau de Duras

The beautiful Chateau de Duras in Lot et Garonne is hosting its annual egg hunt throughout the weekend. You can enjoy the treasure hunt as well as guided tours of the chateau on April 8-10. See more details here

 Pâques au Château de Montaigne

Château de Montaigne in the Saint Emilion region is hosting a big easter event on the long weekend of April 8-10. The program includes a big egg hunt and games in the chateau’s gardens. See all the details here

Easter Egg Hunt at Châteaux La Croizille & Tour Baladoz

Another place to celebrate Easter this year is Château la Croizille. This great winery will host you for wine tasting while your kids are hunting for their chocolate treasure (which in this case is a fancy one from Chocolaterie Maëlig). Chasse aux oeufs – Château d’Agassac

Another château that is hosting a full day for the kids this Easter is Château d’Agassac in Medoc. The program includes a chocolate treasure hunt, games for the kids, mini golf, and a lot of wine for the adults. See all the details here

Normally, at this time of the year, a lot of my content revolves around Paque (easter in Eglish), whether it’s about the best easter chocolate in Bordeaux or egg hunts in beautiful chateaux in the region. While this year you can’t go out on chocolate hunting it doesn’t mean you have to give up the beautiful tradition of Easter. On the contrary, take it as an opportunity to discover great chocolatiers in Bordeaux. There are even several chocolatiers that will be delighted to deliver their Paque creations to the doorsteps of your home or at least your neighborhood. In this article, I present you with five excellent chocolate boutiques in the Bordeaux Metropole, where you can order chocolate for easter. Let’s start the sweetest list of the year. 

Micielo Patisserie

If you still haven’t discovered this little wonderful patisserie, located right outside the center of Bordeaux, confinement is a great time to do just that. I won’t talk about their regular yummy pastries (I’ll do that after the confinement) but I will just say that their easter menu looks fab. They have delivery points in many of the neighborhoods and suburbs of Bordeaux. You can see the list of products and all the details here.

Franck Labasse Patisserie

If you want to take the opportunity to discover some of the great patisseries and chocolatiers around the Metropole, this is your chance. Franck Labasse’s pastry shop is located in the center of Pessac. While the shop is currently closed to the public, the pastry chef prepared a beautiful easter chocolate collection and provides a delivery service. You have to be quick with your order as it can only be done until Wednesday night (April 8). You can see all the details and the order form in this post

Chocolaterie Lalere

Chocolaterie Lalere in the center of Bordeaux is run by a young talented chocolatier Xavier Lalère. The chocolate store offers a great collection of chocolates for easter that can be delivered around the metropole. The order has to be done by tomorrow evening (April 8 ). Hasnaâ – chocolat grand cru

Hasnaa is one of the most famous young chocolatiers in Bordeaux. Like every year she released a collection of chocolates for easter and you can order it on her website. Hurry up as many of the chocolates are already gone.

David Capy

The MOF (Meilleurs Ouvriers de France) David Capy is one of the most celebrated chocolatiers in Bordeaux, with shops in Bordeaux center, Cauderan, Gradignan and Eysines. His chocolate shops are open during the confinement so if you’re in the mood to invest in top-notch chocolate, give him a visit. His paque (easter) collection is absolutely stunning including everything from cute bunnies to huge chocolate strawberries, fish and potato heads. This is the long Easter (Paque) weekend in France and so a big part of the weekend list will be dedicated to treasure hunts in beautiful locations around Bordeaux. If you’re not into that, you have plenty of art and the big Brocante of Bordeaux starting this weekend. Let’s dig in!

Treasure Hunt on Pâques Weekend

The long weekend of Easter is always full of great activities for families. Egg hunting, visiting beautiful chateaux and chocolate workshops are only some of the activities you could do this weekend. Here’s a very comprehensive list of Easter related events taking place this weekend around Bordeaux.

Miroir d’eau

Citizenkid organizes two days of treasure hunts in one of the most popular places in Bordeaux, le Miroir d’eau. It will take place on Sunday and Monday (April 21-22) with three sessions each day. The game is for kids under 12 years old and prior registration is required. For more info click here.

Kfé Des Familles

One of the traditional treasure hunts in Bordeaux, organized by Kfe des Familles, will take place this Saturday (April 20). The kids will be divided into several groups according to their age and will try to find the treasures around la Place Buscaillet in the Bacalan neighborhood. Lormont

Parc de l’Ermitage in Lormont will host a free treasure hunt on Monday (April 22). The event will end with a snack at the ferme des Iris. The event is for kids older than 8 years old. For reservations click here.

Château de Vayres

A great event for the whole family will take place this weekend (April 20-21) at Château de Vayres. The program includes a visit to the chateau, chocolate tastings, games for the little ones and a big treasure hunt for the whole family. For more details click here.

Saint Emilion

This Sunday (April 21) the tourist office in Saint Emilion will organize two treasure hunts. One will start at 10:00 at Tour du Roy in Saint Emilion and the second one at 14:00 at the Jardin de la Lamproie in Sainte-Terre. The activities are free.  for more info click here.

Écomusée de Marquèze

This weekend (April 21-22) the Écomusée de Marquèze, in Landes de Gascogne organizes a fun Easter day that will include a big treasure hunt for the whole family and concerts of Gascony music. For more details click here.

Château de Villandraut

The magical chateau of Villandraut will host two treasure hunts on Monday (April 22). The first one will start at 14:00 for kids 7-12 years old. The second one is for the little ones (less than 7 years old) and will take place at 16:30. Both require prior reservations, for details click here.

Château de Portets

Château de Portets in the Graves region celebrates Easter this Saturday (April 20) with a big treasure hunt, games for kids and wine and chocolate tastings. For the full program click here

one of the most visited chateaux in Saint Emilion will host a treasure hunt on Monday (April 22) at 15:30. For more details click here.

Printemps de la Forêt du Bourgailh

Like every year, the city of Pessac invites you to celebrate spring at the Forêt du Bourgailh. The event, that will take place on April 20-21, will revolve around nature and gardening, with a plants market, a crafts market, guided visits at the beehives and more. Territoires Sauvages – Nature festival

Territoires Sauvages is a nature festival that will take place at the Réserve Ornithologique du Teich on April 19-22. You’re invited to spend your Easter weekend discovering the natural treasures of the region. The festival’s program includes guided tours at the reserve, exhibitions, a big treasure hunt for kids and concerts on Sunday (April 21). For more info click here.

Search for beautiful antiques at the Brocante

The big brocante of Bordeaux is hosted twice a year at place des Quinconces with 200 antique dealers, horticulturists, restaurants and craftsmen. It’s the biggest brocante event in the area and the selection is huge, from vintage home decor, to paintings, antique furniture, garden accessories and more. While some items can be pricey, you can still find plenty of affordable pieces. The merchants are very nice and are open to negotiations. The brocante is taking place from April 19 to May 5. Wine and Ham Fair

This year you won’t be hungry at the Brocante of Bordeaux as it will be accompanied by la Foire aux Jambons & vins (wine and ham fair). The fair will take place at the Place des Quinconces from April 19 to May 5.

Semaine de l’art 2019

An art week is taking place on April 12-20 at the Abbaye de Verneuil in the médoc region. Six artists (a sculptor, a photographer, a graphic designer and more) present their exhibitions at the abbey. The evening program includes plenty of concerts. For tickets and more info click here.

Vernissage exposition Forêt

A new exhibition will be presented at the Groupe des Cinq cultural center from April 19 to June 14. Six artists will present their works, with forest-related themes. The vernissage will take place this Friday (April 19). For more info click here.

Swing Party

A swing concert and party will take place this Friday (April 19) at the Quartier Libre club in Saint Michel. It will start with a swing lesson at 20:00 and continue with a Hot Swing Sextet concert. For more info click here.
